My mind is like a ratchet - it mostly just clicks ahead
Sometime it's good to stop - and try 'reverse' instead
Look back and re-examine - what influenced me the most
Forget those few occasions - that would have made life 'toast'

My third grade teacher taught - with her ruler on my hand
And a favorite math professor - presented paths to understand
While in military service - we met new people overseas
Then in some job careers - foreign travel became a breeze

So many fascinating folks - became friends along the way
Almost everything in life - contributed something every day
There were so many pluses - that added to my life
What's really cool I've learned - give credit to my wife.
